So, I had a pretty good day at the track last week. I drove it 65 miles to the track, slapped on the slicks, ran some 10's, blew the clutch and (thanks to a miracle) still drove it home. I pulled the clutch this weekend to check out the carnage.

When I got the tranny off, I realized that I was having a little more trouble than usual getting my 12-point socket over the head of the bolts. It turns out that the pressure plate somehow bulged out so that it was actually touching the heads of the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel. I had to use a BFH to force the socket onto the heads of the bolts.
There was one bolt that the pressure plate was touching so bad that I couldn't get it off. The pressure plate bulged out so that the bolt head was actually digging into the plate. I ended up grabbing the top of the pressure plate and bending it downward to get to the flywheel bolts and clutch disc.
Here's the clutch disc (you can see that chunks are missing off of the pads): Looks like a mirror

And now for the real carnage:

Overall, I'm honestly extremely happy with how this clutch performed. I put it through 3 seasons of constant drag racing and tons of daily driving. 2 of those years were over 500whp. I ran about 12 10-second runs (multiple low 1.7 60's), 30+ 11-second runs and countless 12+ second runs. I'm quite frankly extremely surprised at how long it lasted. I'll be putting another action clutch into my wife's car when its due.
The funny part is that the clutch wasn't slipping at all until it blew. It must've all blown at once. Beats me how I drove it 65 miles home!!! Anything over about 10% throttle or 3k rpms would slip bad.
Time to step up to the twin-disc

Yeah, I'm not too quick off the line, but a little better out of the hole
It was a test-n-tune night, and on those races I'll sit there until I'm good and ready; I like to wait there for a couple seconds while its green to let the other guy think he took me hard... and then reel him in like he's standing still
