I just finished putting on a new timing belt everythings torqued down to specs. But when i started it up the belt makes this high pitch whining sound. It only makes the sound for a couple seconds after i start it up and when i drive it when im coming to a stop and i push down the clutch it starts making the noise again and it makes it until i do either one of 2 things, 1 start to drive again or 2 rev the engine up and it stops. Does anyone have any suggestions, i have a feeling it may be the tensioner.

 

Are you sure it is not drive belt or belts. IF so it or they are a little loose. That is what it sounds like.

 

Your right dude, its your tensioner, mine was doing that then my timing belt snapped. It happened about 2 weeks ago, then i fixed it, luckily nothing major happened. Good luck.

 

if your tensioner is too tight it will do that sometimes.

 

Yeop it will whine if the tensoir if over torqued steven should know about that lol
