New Tires
Looking for some nice high performance tires that don't run too rediculously priced, anyone have any suggestions? Im pretty new to moding cars, so dont assume I know anything, heh. Thanks ahead of time for any help.
Edit- Did a search and found some other posts, I will check through those for any answers. Sorry for the inconvinence (would still be interested in hearing others opinions on the best tires in the $300-500 range for a pair)

for summer only? for all season? does wet weather matter? does how long they stay cool matter? life of the tire?
when I think 'high performance' i think something good for auto-x. most people that autocross will use falken azenis, hankook venturi rs-2s i think it is, or a variety of others but those are what i see most. Name what you want in the tire and you can narrow it down from just a 'performance tire'

I just got some new Kumho Ectsa SPT tires from tirerack.com. I just put them on so I can't tell you anything about their gripping limits, but for a street tire, they ride extremely smooth, and quiet. They beat out the yoko es avs100 in this test that tirerack.com did. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...A+SPT
too early to review the tires i have. but i just mounted the new toyo t1r's. so far ive only put 200 miles on them. i'll let you know how it is when i hit 1,000 miles on em or so.
good luck on your tire purchase.

Thanks for responses guys. Ill try to narrow it down a little. Rain will be a factor during winter months, but nothing heavier than rain. Im more concerned with grip then anything else, but having them wear out in like 2 months won't do either, so a mid range durability is what id consider Im looking for. They will be driven on every day, but probably only like 1000 miles a month or so. The Yoko's sounded good, but those Kumho's hotsuma mentioned are looking real good because they will also perform really well in the rain, which is always nice. I live in So Cal, so the rain does come in the winter and early spring. If you guys have any other suggestion better then the Kumho's id be willing to hear em, but those seem like the front runner
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Yokohama AVS ES100s
Currently have these tires on my DA. For what you are wanting out of a tire, these meet them IMO. They perform well in both wet and dry conditions. They also have good tread wear compared to other tires in this category, and are relatively cheap as well when compared to other performance tires.

Yoko ES100's are nice and good priced. I find them to be a sticky smooth cornering tire. I went for the Avon M500's for my integra there more of a twitchy instant grip tire which is what i like for FF. all of the above mentioned tires i have heard are good but these are the only two i have driven on.
im down with the costco idea.... i have the es100 on my teg right now.... and i do like the way they feel.... them shyts are sticky!! haha felt that shyt the first day and have been happy, but my only problem is that yokohama rubber is to soft and wears to fast... thats about all i got against em tho...
I'm runnning a set of RT-615 Azenis on the daily driver. So far, my only complaints are slightly more road noise than the stock Michelin XGT V4, and a stiffer sidewall. Otherwise, they have held up very well for the last 3k miles. Definately better turn in for auto-x, and much better overall grip. They also held up for a track day on streets of willow, without greasing up on me, despite very high temps. With the stiffer sidewall, I can get away with running pressures in the 35-38 psi range, instead of the 45 psi I had to run on the Michelins (and i was still rolling over onto the sidewalls @ 45 psi). Overall, I am very content with these tires. Not sure if this review is too helpful, since they're probably a little too agressive for most people for daily use.
Whatever you buy, check out http://www.tires.com and http://www.tirerack.com - I think one of them is a H-T sponsor, but you can definately get tires cheaper online then from a dealer. My Kuhmo's were $64 a tire compared to $120 from a local shop.

Both are actually H-T sponsors
