Thank you Tim. So they provide a smooth surface for the crank to spin on, in the case of crank bearings. That makes sense, but i heard they have something to do w/oil distribution to the crank.
Oil goes under pressure to all the bearings. So if one bearing is really loose, it takes way too much oil & that lowers the oil pressure to all the others.
It's not so much that the bearings "control" the oil pressure or distribution, but a bad bearing can screw it up.
