Anyone familiar with Cayuga (in Canada near Toronto) ?
I was at http://www.trackmasters.com and they had a couple
novice days at Cayuga for $150/day, with instructors and
whatnot.
I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience
at this particular track? From what I hear, the run off area is
pretty safe (no walls, etc) but that the officials and track workers
are incompetent and they run things dangerously - again, this is
only what I have heard.
They also have some days at Watkins Glen for 250/day, but that's
too rich for my blood
Anyway, does anyone have any feedback? Or information on any
other courses in the NY/Canda area (limerock perhaps) that has
some more affordable pricing for a poor college student?
TIA

Cayuga is a decent track, technical and has alot of slow corners with one long straight. It certainly is no Mosport or Watkins Glen, but its a nice track to learn on and pretty safe. No concrete barriers except for the front straigt. So, if you run-off, you will be going for a ride on the bumpy grass. You can check out http://www.torontomotorsportspark.com , I'm sure they will have a track layout. I wont comment on the officials as it depends on the group you are going with.
There are a few courses in Ontario. Mosport, Shannonville and Mt. Tremblant in Quebec. For drivers school, shannonville is great to learn on. Very technical and lots of run-off room. They also have many differnt types of schools. Mosport is very fast and can bite you. HTH. good luck.

Cayuga is a nice, safe track, with reasonably flat run-off area's.
The safety of the event is really a function of the event organisers ... HADA does a pretty damn good job in this regard.
