thinking of getting a quick release hub but...?
i was thinking of getting a quick release hub for my hatch, but i really dont understand how they work? isnt the column lock easier to brake without a steering wheel in your face? doesnt the top part of the hub have to turn? thus making it useless....i dont get the concept
yeah they could tote along like a 21mm socket with breaker bar and slip it over the hub. or a big *** set of channel locks.
The point being with both is that the thief would have to have followed you and then come back with tools to match it rather than just randomly hunting
No car is theft proof but for most it's a great deterent and an adition to other methods

no way... even if the car has power steering, it would be impossible to turn the bolt by hand...

sure, but do you know how hard it would be to drive a car with no leverage to turn the steering column/wheels?
imagine trying to stop a log from rolling with just your hands, as opposed to a big lever to multiply your force.

a quick release is a nice deterrent. however, if someone simply has a removable steering wheel, which many have now, then its not much better. however, this is nice: http://www.inlinefour.com/raploccapfor.html
it works on the rapfix quickreleases and the nrg quick releases. oh, and the keys *are* unique

show me.. lol.. what is a sparco quick release gonna protect over a nrg.. anyways that hub lock is a great idear.. i wish people on honda-tech would match ebay prices, ebay has nrg hubs for 45 bucks, here the omnis(made by nrg, or exactly the same) are 100+ and the rest of them are 80.. pretty freaking weak imho.

yeah the worksbell/rapfix lock is pretty nice. Got mine while i was in japan so it wasnt quite that expensive bit still $$ though for sure.
So...$120 for the rapfix lock. Does it work with other hubs, or only their own (that costs over 300 damn dollars)?
I could see spending $200 for the lock w/ another hub...but not $530+ for a wheel and hub lock. Either way, the wheel is another cost....
Damn its an expensive bit of protection, isnt it??

rap fix works with the nrg qr hubs. the 'gen 2', or so they say. its not actually generation 2, but just buy a recently made one, and it should work.

is it just me or wasn't the quick releases made to make it easier to get in and out of the car easier (in actual race cars) I think its funny how everything tries to justify it saying its gonna stop someone from stealing your car...
just face it 99% of you just think its cool and are looking for a reason to say why you bought it. I really dont' think it stops that many people at all...

yep 6.5 down low. tweets were hand made with fiberglass over the origional plastic.
As for the lock yeah its expensive but it stops anyone from just snapping on another steering wheel.

thats a cool toy to have but i guess if they REALLY want your car, they'll steal it no matter what... i just wish i had the money to get something like that, lol maybe i should just unscrew all the 5 allen bolts off my wheel as my quick release
