Default A/C compressor -- relief valve???

Thought i blew up my compressor by converting to 134A without putting into vacuum first. Turns out that i just blew some type of valve out, located on passenger side of compressor. I welded/brazed/soldered it shut (basically turned the little valve into a little plug). It's now leak free and holding a small amount of 134A refrigerant... just enough so i can defrost the windows when it's raining really...

I'm guessing this is some sort of safety or pressure relief valve?
Do i need to have this valve when i take it to get the a/c serviced, or leave it be?
