maximum rpm going into gear
when I start my car it idles at about 1500 for like 5 mins and its really annoying, I know the cars spos to do that but, alot of times I cant wait. so is it okay to put it in drive at 1500rpm? also it doesnt seem to jerk into gear as hard when its at 1500 compared to 750
?
?
your cars auto?.. i dont think you would have to worry doesnt the car handle the load on its own? but then again i dont drive auto so i dont know...
you can drive your car as soon as you start it. the only reason it is suggested to let your rpms drop, is to let your car warm up. its just a little more harsh on your internals when your driving your car before letting it get to normal temp.
car idles high until the engine warms up. The ECU looks at the engine coolant temp, O2 sensor readings, etc to determine when the engine has reached operating temp. My car will idle at 1500 for about 3 mins. I have an auto and it shifts in and out of gear just fine when it is cold. I usually let my car sit for about 1 min just to give the fluids a chance to start circulating. I am 134K on my car.
Yeah it's fine. Just let the car sit for at least 30sec before you put it in gear and you will be fine. On colder days I usually wait about 3 mins.
