are you sasisfied with your r?
hey guys, just a little background my first car was a 89 bmw525, then i bought a gsx and tuned it to350 hp, but i needed a more realable daily driver, so i now drive a subaru gc8 2.5rs with all the bolt ons. not a noob
I've decided to get a new car because the impreza just isn't doing it anymore... I torn between the type r and 240. i would like to own just one car but if i had a 240 i would def need another daily driver.
so i'm just wondering how sasified you guys are with your r's because i haven't driven one (i'm in mn
) i've driven gsrs and their nice but not enough ***** for me...do you feel that your always wanting somthing more? i know the r wont be that fast in straight line but does the rest the car make up for that? how do guys do against sr20'd 240's in rr/autox?
sorry for the long post hope this alright in the r forum

If you leave a Type R stock, they're really fun to drive. Finding one for sale is going to be difficult. I wanted a little better platform to mod with so I sold my R and bought a RWD V6.
hondas are the most reliable cars made. period. i love my itr. it has a few things wrong with it, but it's stuff that i've caused. hondas might not make the most power out of the box, but are extremely easy to modify.
plus it's a type-AARRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any Honda is extremely reliable. Even with well planned mods and well thought out bolt-on's a Honda will be relaible. It's all in the quality of mods, quality of installation and work, quality of tuning if any and quality of maintenance.

Well, as per theft issue alone then an R is not an especially good daily driver.
Besides that it depends on the comfort level you seek to have in said DD.

Reliability isn't the issue. I put a lot of highway miles on my DD, and I didn't want to put those miles on my R, also, the lack of cruise control on the long drives was an issue. For most here I would guess that the theft problem is the number one issue when considering an R as a daily driver.

before the R, I was rocking a S14 w/SR20 and quite few mods, as a daily driver in a wet or snowy environments, it handled very poorly irregardless of tire choices. It really wasn't something i would own again in where I live.
Nice thing about s14 is that theft rate is almost non-existant, its also not much of a cop magnet. Parts are pretty plentiful and rather cheap. Downside of Nissan chassis is that its pretty weak and thin.

i am having a hard time thinking of another car i might see myself in.
i am too young to be owning this car because of problems that keep arising. remember, these problems are not concerning the reliability of the car, but rather the bad luck that i have. (friend wrecks, auto-x wreck, stolen/recovery) argh...

Yes
You answered your own question. IMHO, the ITR will be just as slow as the GSR.

I would've kept that and purchased a cheap winter beater.

I am VERY happy with my ITR, which is almost bone stock. It's incredibly versatile! You can slap some R compound tires on it and take it to the track, and it will do great, with terrific handling and decent acceleration. You can put an amazing amount of stuff inside; for example, FOURTEEN wheels and tires, in addition to the ones on the car (!!!) for those runs to your tire dealer to swap them around. Slap some winter tires on it for winter use and it's awesome in the snow and frigid cold. And it's as reliable as anything on the planet; I've had a grand total of zero problems with mine. I can't think of another car that can do all those things so well.

No. (FWIW, I have something more when I want it, but I rarely use my other car. I'm doing at least half my track events in the R.)

Yes, absolutely. (And it's not that slow in a straight line, either.)

That all depends on the R. I'm very happy with mine and have walked away from several SR20DET equipped S13's in a straight line.
