Ok, I understand teh concept of not letting too many people join HT then flake out, but don't you think the 20 days or whatever number of post is a little ridiculous? I've been a member for 15 days, thats half a freaking month now, and I still can't post in certain forums and participate in all the cool stuff...this suxs!!!!!! I say we ask the moderators to make the trial membership a tad bit harsher? agree? I mean if someone is going to become a member then let them, but if they don't log on for so and so a period (example: say 30 days) then they should get their account booted...If they want members not to flake out then maybe this would help, because the wait is too damn long, and in most cases this would deter people from wanting to join permanently....just my two cents

I take it you didn't read the box that popped up right when you pushed "register," because it would have told you that you have to be a trial user for two weeks.

Maybe i'm interpreting this the wrong way. But the use "flake" makes it seem as if the user has some sort of binding agreement with h-t to fullfill something. Personally, if a user on h-t suddenly stopped loging on and/or posting, it wouldn't bother me.

In a nut shell... the trial membership is a stop gap measure to keep spammers from flooding the site, as has happened in past years. So the moderators learned from past problems and fixed them for we, the users of this board. So the trial membership is for your benefit.

If there were no trial memberships, and we allowed noobies to post as much ignorance as they possibly could in a 24 hour period, it would ruin the site.

Just wait it out like everyone else does

 

the time limit is there so that the scammers wouldn't have it easy making new accounts and scamming people
