Default bmw m3 or type r

always wanted a newer m3 (02-04) but the cost of parts and the car itself have kept me away from it. On the other hand I have always wanted a 97-98 cw itr. I know the parts for the itr will be much cheaper as well as the car itself and gas mileage will be better also

what are your thoughts..............im looking to purchase either one by the end of this year

What is it you'll be doing w/the car?

Based on what I have seen on the track, generally my choice would be the ITR for most of us.

I think you should research both cars all by yourself and come to your own conclusions.

This post is more GDD than forum specific.

I never understood why people felt it helpful to poll & ask a bunch of strangers what "they" think you should get for your self.

Learn to form your own opinion. It's gonna be Your car for You, not any of us.

Best of luck.

Exactly!
IMO
Street - M3
Track - ITR

"Purpose" is the KEY answer to your question.

Best of luck

If you can afford an M3, you can afford that and a 97-98 R. If you can't, just get the R

I went through this phase myself. M3 won, but now I got a project Integra in the works.

first of all buddy the two cars you are looking at are in no way comparable to eachother. One is a 190hp inline 4 with amazing track capability for around 15-20k, and the other is a 333hp inline six that is just amazing. For the price you'd be paying for an e46 m3 you could buy two R's. Another thing is, you have to stop and ask yourself, would i rather have my car stolen, or would you rather have one of the sexiest looking cars ever that will have endless amounts of mindless ***** jocking you. Personally I'd go for the E46 since it seems you can afford it, and your probably going to end getting one after your R gets stolen, because by the looks of it, they are still dissapearing at an alarming rate.
