that seems really expensive for a chop saw.

i also recomend getting one that accepts a 14inch blade, since they seem to be more common.

That one doesn't use a typical abrasive cut off blade, hence the price difference and different size wheel.

it uses a metal blade, they last a long time and make super clean cuts definetly worth the money

It uses a metal blade that lasts ++ times longer than the regular abrasive blades.
A salesman told me that these models are only available with 12 inch blades.

Anyone with some experience with this machine??

I have used a skillsaw type and it was amazing. Fast perfect cuts with little heat. I want the chop saw style bad!

Have had one for a few years now and the saw works great. Fast clean cuts on mild steel and c/m with the std. blade. Work must be clamped into the vise firmly and a steady feed will optimize blade life. I still keep my old abrasive makita around for doing thin tube headers though as I can just hold the tubing without clamping it. The material must be clamped with the 1230 . The 1230 has a much better vise setup on it than the abrasive saws do. Blades last a long time and can be resharpened but are not cheap.

i have both the HF bandsaw, with a new bimetal blade and cut-off saw, which i spent a total of <200$ on. and they both are awesome. i know you werent asking about those, but keep something like that in mind if you arent using it for a job or to make stuff a whole lot.
