Default A new beginning...

Well I have had it back since Thursday evening, have driven it very casually to put some km (360) on the engine. All seems well at the moment. Went in to the dealer today and my friend just opened the oil cap to see if the cams were getting oiled, they appeared to be. Monday, I will drop the car off and he will pull the valve cover and do a thorough inspection of the engine. Basically the whole damn engine is brand new. The only thing not new, 8 of the 32 valve springs(had 8 outer yellows), the actual block casing and the valve cover. Everything else has been replaced under warranty.

I have some sorting to do with the K-Pro, every now and then my CEL will come on saying that my Primary 02 sensor is not picking up a signal, I clear the DTC and I get A/F readings. My friend is most likely going to order a new sensor. Also have noticed that very infrequently when coming to a stop, if cruising the engine will cut off. I have upped the fuel down low some and this seems to have cured it, though this afternoon it did it twice. And I have also noticed, though I am not trying to engage VTEC at the moment (2000km Chris, stick to it!!!), that it is very hesitant to go into VTEC, I think this is also a fueling issue, maybe TOO much fuel as it sputters, will engage somewhat, though like I said I am not trying to go into VTEC right now. I can say that driving around and shifting at 3800rpms my fuel mileage looks awesome, I filled the tank Thursday evening and at the half way point I was sitting at 320km, where normally I would see maybe 240km if lucky.

Feels so good to be driving it again. Hopefully with the check on Monday, nothing appears to be wrong and I can get back that evening or Wednesday morning as they are closed on Tuesdays. Well just wanted to share in my joy of having the car back after a lengthy 7.5 months.

Chris

I'm not sure if this is related to your K-Pro issues....

but it might be worth a look as it could resolve some of the problems you may be having.

Good luck!

sounds like you have a really really bad tune. i HIGHLY suggest running the stock maps during break in.

The original problem was oil starvation during gymkana. Got the car back on April 30th and turne it back in on May 2nd. Rod-knock within 360km. So the complete engine has been rebuilt all except the block casing, the valve cover and 8 yellow outer valve springs. All else is completely brand new and was footed by Honda. Problem the 2nd time, the oiling system was not doing it's job at all. The IPS cams seemed really loud the problem was a bit of metal/metal contact with the cam holders. Honda HQ up in mainland didn't want to have the cams reinstalled and since I already sold my stock cams, they provided another set of stock cams and my IPS cams have been sold off. So I kind of made some money out of all my misery.

About the tune, it is working just fine now, was just running very rich, RagingAngel thanks for the heads up, though I did connect the ground there previously. SecretAgent, it would of appeared that way, I was using basemaps for the K20A2 stock with a Toda exmani for fueling and ignition maps from another. A guy in the UK, sent me maps for a K20A tuned with GruppeM and Toda exmani and exhaust and when I went to use them, the car wouldn't start, was befuddled as to why, looked and looked and then I finally saw it, the pressure readings across the top of the maps were I have no idea what. I changed those to normal readings and the car fired up without a problem. Have still been a little rich and have been working the fueling down. I've got about 600km on the engine now, another 1400 to go and I will be satisified with the break-in. Just dropped the car off at Honda as they wanted to open the valve cover and inspect the engine to make sure all was well.

A guy here on island wants to do a photo-shoot of my car, as he likes it and he is supposedly a good photographer, at least has some nice gear, he is awaiting some sort of filter lenses or something and then wants to do a shoot. So once that happens, I'll post some pics.
