choose slick size by torque or whp??
ok i see all these threads like "what size slicks for 420whp", but it just doesnt really make sense to me. shouldn't slick size be more geared towards torque and gearing? reason i'm asking is i'm lookin for some slicks and seeing how i have a prelude i'm pretty much stuck to a 15in rim and my only slick sizes are either 24.5's or 26's. i'm not lookin to run sfwd or t4. the only race i might run in is boti and their limit is a 28in slick. my current numbers in my sig are only on a partial tune with many problems. so with 450+ ft'lbs of torque should i go with the 26's since it will give me more sidewall or go with 24.5 to save the drivetrain?
I'd start small. Go w/ the 24.5's and if it's impossible to control them then step up. I was running 24.5's for a while on my hatch and when I went back to a shorter slick it actually helped out. I'm not positive where I was WHP and WTQ wise but, 121mph trap on the slicks and 126mph on True street radials so, it had to be up there. Just my suggestion.

You choose slicks according to both.
An all-motor B16A making 170HP might do well w/ 22x8x13 for example.
However, a stock H22A w/ 170HP in a light hatchback, might have traction problems. Does this mean the H22A should go w/ a taller slick? Absolutely not, because with 22" tall slick, he still can't reach redline in 4th gear. So the solve the problem, he can still increase his contact patch with 22x9x13.
So bascially, bottom line is, you want to redline in 4th gear, but you also need to have traction. So you want to go as small as you can and still reach close to redline in 4th gear, but have as much contract patch for traction.

well my gearing is pretty short. and i oinly plan to take it to about 7k. so i take it 26's?? since on my current 23's i'm nearing redline in 4th already. also i don't really have money to be trying out different size slicks.. but i guess i'll just wait and see what slicksmh has to say..
I would honestly stick with the 24.5s and see how they work first.
Your gonna break more **** with the 26's and seeing that this isnt a race car but more of a street car that would be my choice.

why are you stuck to a 15" rim... ? I am having trouble finding a 13" wheel in a 5bolt pattern but I'm thinking they may not even make them.
i run 26/8.5/15inch , with 24.5's i spun the whole 1st gear and half of 2nd but u will get some killer trap speed
, but i think with ludes 26's dont fit easy i have tried it before on one and it rubbed like hell with stock springs in front

M&H 8.5/24.5-15
I do not think you can fit the 8.5/26-15 under the fenders to easily.
