Default OBD 1 to OBD 2 95 GSR swap into 96 Civic.

I got a great deal on a 95 B18c1 swap and was just wondering what is required to drop this in my OBD 2 96 Civic and not throw CEL's and to pass emissions (they tap into your ecu)? I assume a OBD 2 GSR harness, OBD 2 ECU and.....? I tried searching, but only found results for OBD 2 to OBD 1. Any help is greatly appreciated on this! Thanks guys.

bump. Any insight on an OBD1 swap going into an OBD 2 vehicle will help me out! I have the OBD1 ecu and harness that came with the car, could this be used or would I need to upgrade to OBD 2 ecu and harness, etc..? Sorry if this is an ignorant question, I'm a novice at this stuff.

Hey bro. Maybe I can help. I have been doing a lot of research on swapping an obd1 h22 into an ek (obd2). From what I know, you will need at the following:

1. obd2 oil pump
2. crank angle sensor (attaches to oil pump)
3. obd2 dizzy
4. ob2 wire harness or modified ob1 harness (probably easier to get an obd2 harness)
5. obd2 ecu (i believe you can run a few different ecu's for gsr engines)
6. obd2 alternator

I asked this same question before and I got some bonehead responses like "it's illegal to put an older engine.....". Funny how most people have something illegal on their honda yet they got the brains to say that. Anyways, there should be no machining or impossibilites into swapping over between obd1 and obd2 parts. I am knowledgeable in dsm's and they swap older blocks (much less problems) all the time. In fact I just did one. Since all obd1 engines don't have crank sensors, on dsm cars, they splice the signal of the cam angle sensor into the crank sensor. This way, it passes emissions. Also, to use a crank sensor on a dsm obd1 block, you have to machine the oil pump as the obd2 blocks are slightly different. For this reason, it makes faster install, less sensor parts failure, and a much simpler install. I am curious to know if you can do this same mod on hondas. Maybe not because dsm cars are distributerless and hondas are. However, if the sensor pulses are similar between CAS and CKT it is feasible that you can do this mod. This would be a good mod because, h22 CAS sensors are $175 dollars plus $250 dollars for the oil pump. However, gsr wouldn't be as bad since crv/b16/gsr/type r oil pumps are like $100 from the dealer. The sensor is not bad either and you could probably find them more easily used than a h22. Anyways, good luck son
