Please help......only one radiator fan working
Hi all,
I have a 94 accord DX and I replaced the radiator. I bled the air out of the system and everything seems to be fine. However, I notice that only one fan is coming on...the car is not overheating(actually it is doing great) but I wonder if this is a major problem...what could be causing it. I turn on the ac and the one fan came only came on...I am concern that maybe the fan is broke or maybe I need to check some fuses..please help...
Thanks

first off which fan is not working?? the 1 on driver side ( a/c condensor fan ) or the 1 on passanger side ( main cooling fan ) either or, try a quick test ,,,,,start car and put a/c on both fans should be on, i know 1 does not work, get a big screwdriver and smack the non-working fan on the back side if fan starts working u need a new motor,, if it does not work chk to see if the fuse is ok , fuse for both are located underhood fuse box ,, if fuse is ok chk to see if u get power and ground at fan connector ,if u get both u have a bad motor, if not a possible relay,? wiring ? , ..I also notice that u replaced the radiator did u make sure to plug both fans back on ?? was the fan not working before u replaced radiator or did it start non-working after radiator replacement ??
Hi Deserthonda,
The fan that does not come on is the ac/ one...I will go out and do what you suggested tomorrow. I did plug back all of the conectors and yes the fan(i am pretty sure) worked before I replaced the radiator. I will check fuses and see if that is causing the problem....what do you think???
Thanls again

Hi Deserthonda,
I just check all of the connections and the fuse..they were all okay. I look to see if I had any lose wires but I did not see any. I will get a tester to see if power is coming to the fan..I just cant believe the fan would just quit...Damn...I hope it is not a relay..I will look around for a fan if all else fails.
thanks again Desrthonda....

wHey deserthonda,
I teseted to see if power was coming to the fan and it was..I notice that it does not spin freely with the car off as the other entry posted to check. So I went on and ordered a fan..Will let you know if that is the prob...thanks again.

Hi all,
I bought a new fan and I have the same results...The fan does not come when I turn on the ac...I have check all fuses and connections and they are all okay. I even check to see if power was coming to the fan when the ac is turned on and it is. I need to know what else could be causing the fan to now come on....Thanks to everyone for the help....

What I meant to say was where or what would the wire be grounded too. I traced all of the connections and everything looks okay as I stated previously...Everything else works on the car..including the AC.....I am at a lost
at the a/c fan motor plug, u got 2 wires blk/blue that is the power wire and black that is the ground wire .get a test lite.put 1 to battery positive and the other to the black wire if test lite lites up, ground is ok if not u got a bad ground........to chk power at wire, put 1 to battery negative the other to blk/blue test lite should lite up if so you got good power source if not u could have a bad relay, wiring problem

i feel like we are going in circle..... ok you got power ..did u test to see if you get ground like i explained you to do??? if u get no ground fan will not work ..if you get both power and ground at fan motor then u got a bad motor ....
if u get no ground you can splice a wire to black wire at fan motor connector going to a ground source and fan should work

Deserthonda......

ok lets start from scretch.......underhood fuse box chk fuse # 34 10 amp ..IF OK.. go to condensor fan relay it is located toward top of radiator driver side, it has 4 wires,, (white, yellow/white, green, and blue/yellow..) ,,you should get power at both white and yellow/white with car running a/c on, if you do,,,jump the white and blue/yellow wires together if fan comes on most likely u got a bad relay .. ...if when you jump those 2 wires and fan does not come on, chk to see if you got power at blue/black at fan motor plug.. if you do. chk to see if you have a good ground at black wire at fan motor plug,,chk those and let me know
