Im looking into some road race tires for the next lapping session we have here in hawaii.

My civic is a 330whp b16 civic that has a peaky power band.

What tires is everyone running a similar powered honda on a road course?

id' learn how to drive before driving a 330 hp civic on track.....cause you'll just **** off alot of people driving slow in the corners and drag racing down the straights...

i hate it when people do that... especially when they're just bad drivers, and leave the line going around the turn, making it look like they're going to let you pass on the following straight, only to cut you off and prove that their car is faster when not turning... those people suck monkey *****.

last lapping session i took it for a shake down run and it didnt get higher then 100degrees F or C ?

im not sure, which ever one my greddy water temp says...

but i would need tires either way, so keep those suggestions comming.

if i know the car behind me is faster over all, i'll let them pass even though i can stretch them on the straight...

Any of the R compound tires will be fine for lapping: Toyo RA-1, Kumho Victorracers, Hoosier, etc. You might also want a couple of spare axles and some oil clean-up...

How is it any different than a track n00b taking out a Z06? If anything, the Z06 would be potentially more lethal since RWD is less forgiving than a FWD car.

Get an oil temp gauge and the biggest oil cooler you can squeeze in there. Trust me. Mine is clearing 300F with room to spare, and I have an oil cooler already (GReddy cooler, Defi gauge)

The temp is measured in C. 100F is just a hot day. 100C is the boiling point of water.

I've used Toyo RA1's and Hankook Z214's with good success.

Have fun! Let people pass early as needed. You probably spend a lot of time in traffic, you'll just have to deal with it.

Might as well turn the boost controller off if at all possible, for HPDE. You'll learn just as fast and still be hella quick.

330whp civic!, that is too much power for that chassis. your road racing not drag racing.

I have under 200 whp and you have 330whp.

Edgar, just stay on Azenis for now and learn the car. Going to race tyres too soon may result in me having to help clean up the track after an incident with the wall. I don't want to see your car become yet another victim.

You sir read are a awesome drive. you can make anything fast. I herd you took that old trunk you had around the course... hell even your daily driver red eg coupe was doing what like 46s or 44s? thats shows how good of a driver you are. For the less unfortunate drives that aren't that Good, have resort to have big brakes, big hp to make up for a l35s then steller driving abilities..

so your suggest is to stick with azenis for now? I was gonna order some ao32s or something else around that price range...

Yeah. Chad speaks from personal experience pissing folks off.

 

If you are going to get race tires. I would get something mroe like street tire like Victoracer,Ra-1 ,A032 etc. They are much more forgiving than hoosiers or V710 and in your case can literally save you life once you get up to speed. With a car like that i would suggest a cage,FIA seat and harnesses to.
