so i have a lot of play in the shifter. when it is in first i can move the shiter left and right like a mother and in nuteral it is really hard to find gears. is that my shift fork of just my keeper is to small.

 

there are several rings and bushings that could be worn out and several bolts that could be loose in the shifter linkage. could be the lever ball seat is funky as well.

check the gearshift linkage and associated bolts, washers, bushings, etc for excessive play.

 

i would order a shifter bushing kit from energy for like 15 dollars...makes the shifts 20x cleaner

 

all stock efs have horrible play with the stock shifter bushings replace them with neuspeed or energy urethane bushings.......actually I have an extra set I could send ya hit me up with a pm if you are interested

 

Go under the car and find where the shifter meets the selector on the tranny. If you can move the shifter rod without the selector moving then the linkage or the bitch pin is worn.
