Default Door Jam

I have a 90 Honda Accord that I have recently invested quite a bit of money into. I went out to my car the door opened just fine...I went to church came out...door open just fine. I then went to Walmart as I attempted to get out the car..the door would not open from the inside nor outside. We've had the panels removed to see what's causing the problem...not yet resolved. Everything seems to look OK. Please help me get my door unjammed. I don't think I can take crawling in on the passenger side to much longer.

My friend had the same prob on his '90 accord. After a long research, he found a solution. You have to drill from the inside of the door at the certain spot to break the mechanism of the latch to make it unlock if you are in this case. Save you a new door and labor cost!

But if you break the mechanism, how do you expect to lock it?

If your door is stuck shut you can almost count on the fact that the lock assy. is already broke. Drilling is usually the final solution, but don't hesitate to try manually moving things around with your hand before you do, you may get lucky.

Since neither inside or outside handles work AFAIK that would eliminate a lock rod problem since those are 2 different rods. Best and cheapest suggestion would be to hit up a junkyard and pull the part yourself from an Accord (fairly easy) that also has the passive front seatbelts. If you do, good luck and I hope for your sake the window is up, moveable, or missing on the junker you choose. Otherwise the dealer will set you back at least $200.00.

Sir, that is the final solution. You are lucky already if you could get the door open. You have to change the latch. You rather change the latch or the whole DAMN door? Door latch at junk yard doesn't cost much!

In my buddy's accord case, the latch mechanism jammed, not the rods....couldn't open from outside, inside, pull the rods manually....It is hard to drill at the right spot and in tight *** space. Big drill won't work, try the small drill. Good luck! It is a pain in the ***. Have some patience!

this is a known problem with 90-93 4 door accords there was a tech service news with proper measurement on where to drill and how big the hole, given to dealers by HONDA OF AMERICA to show the techs ,,i have done a few of these they are not too much fun,, you have to especially be real careful on removing door panel with door closed ,,,,i tried to look for the service news but cannot find it anywhere or i would post exact spots on where to drill maybe someone else might have it ....and make sure u have another latch at hand before u start drilling cause once u brak the lock mechanism u wont be able to close the door , so it has to be a R&R job
