Default ECU question

Will a car even turn over with a bad ECU? the swap was done a few days ago and it will turn over but not start. starter fluid was sprayed in the TB and it started for a sec. do you think it could be a bad ECU, relay (which I just replaced), fuel pump, or what? any help would be great.

BTW I am putting a B16 into an EF hatch.

You are putting a b16 in it or it is in it?

If its in it I am guessing perhaps wiring.

What happend when its cranking? Does it even soudn like its trying to start up? check timing, spark, fuel.

It is already in my EF, the car sounds like it wants to start, and occasionally it almost does, just sounds like its not getting spark, but the dist was replaced.....along with the timing belt and all that before it was swapped in....

was the ignition timing set correctly? And you are sure the timing belt was lined up right?

Yea, i'm a friend, problem right now is that both of the guys who are doing the swap are at work. They are both on here, but i'm just not sure about the timing yknow....

But yea, they both think that the ECU is bad, I got the engine from hmotorsonline, a very reputable site IMO, tried contacting him but no repsonse so far. I'm just not sure if the ECU being bad would keep it from turning over..

Yes a ecu can prevent it from starting up. The ecu is the brain, imagine you lost your brain you wouldn't be able to think or live

Yea, the car turned over fine last time I checked......I'd go check, but its about 40 miles from my house here, needless to say that i've used a lot of gas going back and forth in a v-6 sebring.
