In lew of all the BS that I have been in for the last three years with my car, I finally have found that "light" at the end of the tunnel.
As some of you know, my car has been through 4 different shops, around $25k later, the latest shop wound overboring my bottom end and did'nt feel the need to reimburst me for the money. On top of all that they were spraying something in their shop with paint and managed to get it ALL over the car, including the interior since the window was down. **** you One Six Motorsports, your time is coming.

After all my pleas over this board, I found help. I could never find it in me to ever give my car over to somebody else but this one member has changed my perspective. I was considering taking it to King Motorsports, which I know would've donr the job right,but I chose Aqua simply because he stated he would treat it as if it were his own car.
I will be do a full K series build including sleeving a titanium rods, and Aquafina will be handling the entire process. I will be picking up a 95 hatch, and dropping it off to Aquafina in TN,(i'm in Chicago) and he will have the car built and painted from the ground up.
Just wanted to extend my thanks to you Aquafina for stepping to the plate and taking on this build. I'm eager to meet with you and getting things started.

Don't even think I would be involved with Hondas anymore had it not been for this forum. Thank you all for helping me stay in the game. Different bunch of people on this forum.

There is no friction material left on my clutch now. The Action Clutch kicks though.

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now (a full car build). I'll probably make a post in the black hole or somewhere on the progress of it. It'll be a long project though. 2 months just to get the rods done so...yeah.

P.S. Yack will be tuning it if I can get someone to lend me their K-Pro software.

No, no Aprils's fool. This is the real deal. We have had a phone conversation already and in less than a month I will be driving a 95 hatch down to TN and i'm going to have him build the car from the ground up. No expense will be spared and hopefully Aquafina will keep us all updated with a progress thread or something.
I'm eager to see what the end result will be myself. K20 head, k24 block......blah blah.

You went from shops that have either bad rep to no rep to someone that doesn't even have a shop (AFAIK) nor has ever done a complete car build up (according to him)....has he even put together an engine before?

I have nothing against the kid apart from getting annoyed by his posts, but if it were my money, (and it doesn't sound like money is an issue here) I would have made sure that I take my car to a place that isn't going to learn as they go on my car.

It sure is a great opportunity for Aquafina, but it just seems like a bad idea from the get go. Does he even own a business in case things go wrong and courts have to be visited?

Good point. I'm "hoping" through all the bullshit that i've been through already that Aqua understands that I don't have room to fucked over once again. I have a lot on the line as I stated before, financially as well as losing my wife if I get fucked out of $15k.
But again, there are good people out there that just want to help. which is what i'm HOPING I found. No one has ever told me that they would treat my car as if it were their own, and that goes a long way with me. Even though I have never seen any of Aqua's cars.
But i'm in good spirits about this and hope this all works out.

With the experiences you had you are definately hard headed. No offense meant by that but how can you compare King and this young man? You cant compare but you on the other case, are.

If money is no object then why is your wife on the line. Apparently you havent put thought into your marriage. The chances of your marriage being affected by this next build are severe.

In no way am I comparing King to Aqua. The reason for the whole wife thing is that I have spent well over $30k into my car in the last three years and have gotten fucked over and over and over. She's told me to just hang it up and just buy a "fast" nice car like an S2000 or G35 or 350z. But like you stated before, I am hard headed and want to be an underdog with a hatch and a Del Slo,( would've gotten BoostedR25's car but with my luck it would've gotten stolen.)
I can't give all this up on account of some bad experiences I had and can't assume that everybody's out theree to screw me over. i appreciate you looking out but I think Aqua would be man enough to tell me if he was getting in over his head. We'll see what happens.

 

Have you ever seen a new sales guy take in more than he can handle? The guy has more food on his plate than he can swallow. It happens all the time. People get excited. They want their first sale etc.

They wont say no. Unfortunately the odds are going against you now but you are not realizing it. You just admitted you are hard headed but in earlier posts you were concerned about having a quality mechanic? You complain that you spent over $30K?

Listen, i'm not taking this offensively. I respect everyones opinion and thoughts.
The shops that I used were well known, at least two were. The shop i'm currently using has'nt given me any problems, yet I think its time for a change. You maybe right, this maybe a big gamble on my part, but I said again, I would hope Aqua would tell me he could'nt handle a job before he took it.
Another reason is my confidence of th ITR forum. Theres a different vibe in this forum and though I do not own an R(only the motor), I choose to come here due to the "sometimes" elavted maturity level. Not talking **** about the other forums but..

And I really don't think Aqua wants to drag his name through the mud on one of the largest Honda/Acura boards around.

I've never painted or prepped a car before, but it's something I've always wanted to do.

BTW, as was already stated, you're an idiot for risking your marriage your the build of a car. Clearly if you can't afford to lose $15k again, you shouldn't even risk it.

It's just that the threadstarter really needs to reevaluate what's important in life and what's at stake in this scenario.

I would say that I'd hate to see him lose his wife over this matter, but if he's stupid enough to risk her over a silly car, then he doesn't deserve to be with her, IMHO.

You look at a lot of these so called "shops" and there is no substance, but they are very well known because of their "ads"--stay away from places like this! Now I am not trying to knock ANYBODY-including Aquafina, but I would do alot more research--You really are risking alot--15k? Think before you just drive to drop your car off!! Why don't you try building it yourself? Who else is going to be as careful with your own car than you?, Get the necessary tools and build the car/motor yourself!! And only contract out the machine work and possibly paint (if you are painting) It seems like in this business (particularly this business) there are alot of guys who want to make a quick buck--its probably due to having eager kids ready to drop their hard earned money at the drop of a hat for their car...

 

I've done a handful of ground up builds before and without a shop and a business (with insurance) it's dumb to give or accept that kind of responsibility. If it's something simple like an engine swap or changing some shocks or something, then why not, but a complete ground up build, especially with this kind of budget, is a completely different story.

I read this an concluded one of two things:

(1) This post is a (rather lame) joke and you are just screwing with people in this group.

(2) You have some psychological problems and are expressing them through your Del Sol. You want to be fucked over by Aquafina - it will give you some sense of purpose/importance.

I mean, how much of a loser do you have to be to risk losing your wife over a Del Sol?

Is Chris actually building this engine himself (of course shops will be involved for bore/hone/headwork/etc), or is he coordinating all this on his own time, thereby leaving you to dream about puppies and sunshine until he delivers the car to you?

I honestly don't understand why you're not thinking of shops with K experience, either asking Jack to build it (instead of just tuning it) or finding a good shop through k20.org.

You speak of this project as if money is no object, yet you turn right around and say you're in danger of pissing off your wife that one last time if it goes wrong.

Chris is a good kid, a little much at times, but a lot better than your typical retarded 19-year-old. But are you ready to trust an individual with your last 15 large in car money?
