Default HARD shifting

recently ive noticed that when i shift out of park into drive, or anything for that matter, it seems to shift very hard, like, the whole car shakes ALOT. It does not only happen when im parked on a hill, but when i am on flat ground too. Is this a result of my tranny slowly takin a **** on me? or what?

change tbe fluid and add a can of lube guard made for import transmissions. I have a 1994 LX with 134K and I change the fluid once a year (drive 10K or less every year) and right after I change the fluid it works a whole lot better. I got the car in 2000 with 87K on the odo and have only put 47K on it.

It could be a motor mount as well.

May be a mount. most likely the front one and if it has been a while since you noticed it, the rear one as well

is it common though for it to only shift hard out of park and no other gear? Do you reccomend changing the fluid or jus re-plenishing it?

Since you had the mounts inspected, I would change the fluid (drain and fill) and add a can of lube guard.

If your mounts go out it will cause the car to appear to shift hard as the engine slamms against the mount but you may not notice it once the engine and tranny are in gear since the front mount has already got pressure on it.

I would let the car idle for 1 min before shifting out of gear and see if that helps

Replenishing is never really a good idea with any fluid for any car, unless you burn a quart of engine oil a month or or are nursing a slow leak or something.

1k is too high if the car is fully warmed up, 700 to 750 is about right

With e-brake on and brake pedal depressed have someone inside the car shift from park to reverse, reverse to park a few times and look for abnormal engine movement or noises. Naturally there will always be some, but if it seems a little much, break out the flashlight and inspect visually for tears or cracks in the mounts. Start with the front and rear mounts, they take the most abuse.
