My experiance with it is, if your gona be cutting with alot don't bother with it but than again for the price how can u say no.
I cut stuff on a daily basis with my harbor freight saw and the problem I'm having with mine is tha the back bushing that the arm swings on wore out and broke. I have tried fixing it numerous times with washers made a complete bushing out of copper and it still cuts crooked once you get down to the bottom, because the arm hits the base once its about 1" away from the bottom of whatever your cutting.
For light duty its a great saw just make sure you get some good blades for it and it will treat you nicely.

I use it just about everyday, I ran into a few problems with it, like the blade would sit on a bad angle, that was fixed though. It requires some tweaking but its well worth it once you get it dialed in. I did break one bolt to on the bandsaw but fixed it.

I spent the extra money and got a Jet 4x6 bandsaw. Basically the same thing, except quality control is a little bit better I think. It cut straight right out of the box and does a great job all around. My biggest complaint is the flimsy *** 'table' that comes with it for using it in the vertical position.

Its the same as the Hf one. I had the two side by side and itsidentical!
Why spend extra $$? Its just packaged in a different box in China.. Seriously!

If you're going to be using it a lot everyday get a Dake, Dayton, or a Wilton
It's obvious to stay away from p.o.s. Harbor Freight junk.We had Jet's here at school and they're always breaking. Slowly we've switched to Wilton and they handling anything we can give them. The higher quality saws are more expensive, but either pay a lot now, or go through a lot of broken cheap saws.

That's at school though, how many idiots went there abusing, and don't say known because no matter what school you go to, there are always gonna be people that won't use it properly ? I use my harbor freight band saw every day, well almost every day and it always works great. You take care of things better when you own it.

WE USE A jet 4X6 but it isnt gonna lst forever as we are doing more and more header and exhaust prodcution from Stainless steel. We buy expensive blades for it... about $16-23 EACH. and with the right speed and Catrol lube can make them lst a pretty long time.
We are in the market for an old used GROB/ DoAll, or Kalamazoo Vert. bandsaw... somthing in the 24-36" throat range. 36" would be ideal so we could cut lexan windows and such with ease. And the bigger you get, the less constrained youll be in the future. However these big old machines are HUGE and in the 3500 lb. + range. We have the space for it so we arent concerned about that though.
It all depends on what your cutting and how much of it your doing....

I haven't made the jump into purchasing one yet, but here some pics/specs on the h/v 4x6 models side by side.

That "Delta" looks exactly like the HF... I wonder it they too are the same part painted different.
For the guys who say the HF won't last in a "real" shop, you are absolutely right. In my garage though, using it to build my mid-engine Mini, it works perfect. Do I use it everyday? No. If I had the money would I bu a top of the line saw? Yes, but I can't. However, the HF works perfectly for *my* needs, and I suspect, the needs of many guys who work on their own cars on the weekends.

actually, it looks exactly like a no-name they sell at an surplus store around here (princess auto) but it is not (probably the same as the HF?) i purchaches mine at TSC (Canada). I gaurantee the large casting is the same but the table is more sturdy (not the same as the picture i posted) and it has better adjustment handles and other upgraded small features.
it was worth paying the extra $20 or so when i was shopping for a saw. but really.. there is nothing wrong with either.. I kick myself for not buying this cheapo band saw ealier in my project..

Can you elaborate more on the "blade sitting at bad angle problem"?

it's very hard to break the blade on a small machine.. having a good/sharp blade will prevent the common problems.. like, the blade slipping off and cuts that arent too strait.

Well the saw itself has never broken a blade. What breaks them is when it gets jammed due to me feeding the material wrong. When that happens it puts a small kink in the blade and it'll eventually break at that point. This applies to any bandsaw. And yes, if a blade breaks you just buy another pre-welded 64.5" blade and slip it on.
