whats your logic behind this. The only reason iwould see to run the open deck is if its a 98+ block because of the 55mm mains, but even that could be argued becasue there is more bearing surface, they could cause slightly more drag. But its so small that it probably wouldn't be noticed.
I personally went with the sleeved closed deck becasue the majority of the high end sleeves you see use an upper-deck brace, and i can;t see how that doesn't help. I believe Benson is the only one that uses the open deck still

you are right about that...my guess would be because of cooling issues.my deck plated set up is like this.

I personally believe that the '98+ block is superior to the rest of the h22 blocks. Stock vs. stock, it can be argued that the closed deck design is stronger but built vs. built I think the things you should be looking at are the mains and the cooling capabilities. Yes I know Benson's and JITA are the only sleeves that allow a block to remain open deck but I think if you can keep it that way, you will realize more benefits in the future.
I understand what you are saying about the mains causing more drag, and I can't really argue back against that. It is just my personal preference that if there was an open deck 98+ block vs. a closed deck h22, I would choose the open deck to build my motor with.

I guess i see it as, they had to have some reason to change to open deck from the older h22s. But i've never really heard of any motors over heating to the point where an aluminum rad or something along those lines couldn't overcome the heat
see thats what i've been coming up with when reading old post cooling problems with the closed but no evidence i haven't seen yet.
I don't understand how to sleeve or i would have done it. some one said that you can just drill out your old sleeves on the closed block and just replace with sleeves?
i want benson to do the sleeves i just sending the right motor to him.
i can see the cooling capabilties with the open deck....?
i plan on running <9psi on street> 15-20psi max this comming season to see what i can do and how the performance of the motor holds up under just above moderate boost .
i got a guy here in town that will sleeve for 600 dollars NU-image in kansas city has had 6 blocks done by him and no problems like a sleeve falling?
I'm not looking for cheap I'm looking for someone that is good at what they do hints benson's work.
Does benson do cloesed decks?

Does benson do cloesed decks?
^^he'll do anything you want if you pay him to do it. He prefers open deck sleeving. He keeps the deck open even after sleeving which is much unlike most engine building companies. Here is a link on how Benson does his sleeving https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=565375 You can make your own decision about his work after reading this and talking to people who have had blocks sleeved by him.

You'll be really happy with benson's work.
