Default longblock replacement question

I'm going to be doing a longblock b18C1 replacement in my Del Sol and I was wondering if it was necessary to take out the tranny also? I have searched the forum and come up with almost nothing but longblocks for sale (no how-to about swapping them out). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,

Nick

Hard to believe that no one knows the answer to this on H-T.

IF you block is a B16 then you don't need to.
But if your car is a D16. then you have to buy the tranny too.

It's not about buying, it's about replacing. I currently have a B18C1 with the matching GSR tranny. I just need to replace the block and I'm wondering if I have to pull the tranny to swap the blocks.

For anyone who might care as to the answer, yes you do have to take the transaxel out.
