Default Silencer cost engine damage?

3 months ago, I install this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

in my 4.5 inches Apexi Muffler due to cop trouble, I kind of hammered it in.. now it's stucked in there..

I do like the quite-ness it produces, and I was wonder does it damage my car cause I think the hole is little smaller than stock Type R muffler.

Do you see the screw/bolt in the pic. That's there for a reason....You bolt it in so it doesn't come out on the highway! Doh!

You should not have any damage other than what You caused yourself.

my muffler has 4.5" tip, and they claim it fits, when i got it, it was only slightly bigger than the hole, due to the fact I had to go to court that day(fighting a noise muffler ticket), I kind of hammer it in.

it's been 3 months, working fine, don't really feel decrease in HP.

Don't worry about it then. First, why would hit something on your exhaust with a hammer? Did you take the screw out when you hammered it in or you just went ahead and just started whalin at it? lol

it goes in 75% by itself, and I use the hammer to add other 25%.

Screw was totally un-necessary.

To install and remove from the muffler keep the caR running, the flow of air helps to slide it in/out. try it.

Maybe squeeze 200 shot nitrous and rev to 20,000 rpm will shoot it out. J/P

No, it will not cause engine damage!

on a serious note. if you want to try to remove it... this is what i did years ago... i got a wire coat hanger. used the hook and shoved it inside the muffler and yanked the silencer out.

Or you can try one of these, be careful though, you might pull off the entire axle-back!

My silencer sticks a bit as well. I just move it around a bit with a flathead screwdriver to "break the seal" then rev my engine up to about 2.5k RPM in neutral and it usually pops right out. The rev needs to be a good stab of the throttle to get some air moving back there, not a ***** 5% throttle rev.

i'm sure there is a decrease in hp. on my spoon n1, with the silencer in, there was 5 or 7 hp lost at the wheel.
