k20 Head Swaps?
Searching has led me to a number of OTHER threads dealing with K20 headswaps, not answering my question.
My question, is what sort of gains could someone expect to put a Type S head on a SI bottom end? Is it something that will yield some good results? What sort of work am I looking at doing to accomplish this?

You should check over on ephatch.com A couple of different people have done this, with interesting results. It sorta works... but you really need K-Pro to drop the VTEC engagement point, otherwise with the 5-speed you'll drop out of VTEC on each upshift. Of course, you could also solve that problem by swapping in a 6-speed from the Type S as well. Thing is, for the price of a headswap, then a tranny swap, you might as well just swap in the whole A2 block with tranny and ECU and be done with it. You'll also get the block oil jets, counterbalanced crankshaft, and stronger rods that way.

If you swap an A2 head you will need kpro. as for numbers not really sure but it will be alot more fun to drive IMO . I wouldnt rev past 7.5k though. eventually I would consider a 2.4 block after the head and kpro but that my personal opinion. Do alot of reasearch before you go buying parts.
Hope that helped you at all, But I would check out EPhatch.com there is a butt load of info there

well if you swap it into an ep3 all you need is the complete type s dropout ...it is plug and play ...oh sorry you have to have the immobilizer reprogramed by the dealer ...i have a connection on this so i was lucky...those swaps sell for roughly 3-3500 bucks ...as for an ek9 i really dont know ...i think there is alot more involved with this swap.
