Could a current two-car nitrous Pro Modified team be planning an expansion to three cars? If this happens, word has it a well-known Sport Compact driver could get the nod. (8-18-2005)
Any other good ones out there?

Well, From all of the dumb rule changes that NHRA Sport Compact has been making to cost all of us lots of money, and waste lots of time. Some of us may not be back in Sport Compact next year. Why keep spending money to run Sport compact, and not get anywhere. Its obvious some Sanctioning body must not want us out there, and must not want the sport to grow to where it should be. Definetly looking elsewhere.

i've always kind of wondered how long it would take for some of the prominent sport compact drag racers to find classes in "regular" nhra events even at a divisional level to start to race their cars - if the rules could be expanded a bit to accomodate 6 cylinder turbo cars it seems as if racing in 32 car fields every weekend would offer a lot more competition and possibly recognition for sponsors to some extent - not necessarily direct to a "sport compact" consumer but the crowds those events draw are huge
even with my slow *** civic i have looked at the rules a bit and could run it in say a 10.90 index class relatively easily from what i have seen
i know of at least one team that has been trying to get their supra in one of the largest nationally recognized street car shootout for the last 2 years or so but just haven't convinced the organizers to expand the rules quite enough yet

When Paul used to drive the Supra he did a few fastest street tire shoot outs with the mustangs and the other big dawgs.
And as far as running your Honda in Nhra brackets classes....GO FOR IT!!!! for one....its easy to become a national record holder in alot of those classes.I know of a few cars that run the NORTH EAST DIV. and they have national titles and record cause of there cars.they run a dodge neon and a old school chevy cavalier.
you definitly would get some good recognition.

I know people would automatically assume Lisa Kubo but I've thinking about the deal she could have on her plate. Here's what I think is being offered to her. A Top Alcohol Dragster position with Pedregon Racing to go up against Ashley Force and John Force Racing. She was in Cruz's pit in Sonoma CA this year...
I'd suspect Pro RWD drivers like Hartford to go pro mod or pro stock. I can also see some crazy Pro RWD guys going outlaw racing and pro mod racing for fun in the little spare time they have.

are you talking about the turbo changes?
didnt nopi technically change the rule first?
or are you talking about the possibility of a displacement change... it would be ashame if you guys left the sport compact side

Trust me, just because you are hanging out in someones pits does not get you ride. I understand that rumors are just that, but to say it because she was in thier pits?
I have hung out in Darrel Aldermans pits, Warren Johnsons Pits and Kurt Johnsons pits. Hell the year Kenny B. was retiring I hung out in thier pits at the Atlanta race, and he still let Brandon drive the next year. Still no ride as of yet. I guess I will go hang out in Nero's pits this weekend, he seems to have money to keep building new cars in Black.
Hey Nero, put me in something that will run 6's

I know that Pais drove a pro mod car last week at Etown. He made 2 passes in it. The car was a nitrous pro mod but he wasn't licensing or anything it was in a high dollar match race, for the best out of 3 and he won the first two. The car's ran no time but it had to run in the low 6's. The car was an old Camaro like a 69 body style I guess.

I agree. Everytime you see that guy at Etown and Atco he is so far in front of the competition out of teh hole it's amazing. I think he puts a voodoo spell on the guy he's racing cause you don't see anyone else do the same thing. At Etown he did the same thing in the Pro Mod car, he was gone on the guy by, it seemed, 2 car lengths before the other guy even moved. The announcer said on one of the passes that he had an .007 light that he said is amazing in that type of car. And then he was talking about his history at the track with the imports and how Etown is his home track etc. I'll tell you one thing, the crowd likes him at Etown.

Thanks for your votes of confidence but I can end the part of the rumor that i will be driving in a Pro Mod car. Nobody has approached me to run a Pro Mod car for them very seriously. I have a couple of people talk about rides they were putting together that said I would be perfet for the car but it has never gone beyond that, and believe me, that's not going all that far. Most Pro Mod team are self funded efforts and the people sinking all the money into the teams are usually the ones sitting in the best seat in the house. I guarantee you that I don't have the money to put a Pro Mod deal together. I guess getting paid to drive is a dream that I could have, it's not a reality that i see happening in the near future.
Maybe someone else is who they are talking about but I would think that whoever it is they will be bringing a lot of money to the table to do it. The one thing I can say about the Pro Mod group is that it's a lot of fun to be with those guys and they definatly love their racing. Maybe one day I will get the chance to build a car like that and I can go over and teach those guys what it's like to look at some tail lights by the 60' but, until then, I hope that someone from the import side get's a chance to race those cars because they are a lot of fun and the best of luck to whoever it is. Just go over there and show those guys what's up.
