Default 13x8 wheel, 215 too skinny?

The tires would be 215/50/13 (tread width = 8.5") Kumho 710s and the wheels would be rota RBs at 13x8. Unfortunately the 710s dont come in any other 13" size (at least not on tire rack). Would the 215 tire be too skinny for the 8" wheel?

Or should I just go with the more expensive 225/45/13s from hoosier (AS05) just because of the width? Would I be losing anything by running a tire thats a bit skinny for the rim? Would I gain any stick from the extra width of the hoosier?

Only the RBs will fit over the 10.3" brakes so I cant run some diamond 13x7s or something. I suppose I could run some 14x7 diamonds but they are 17lbs (http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/RoadRaceSeries.htm) and the tires to match are ~21lbs .

Ben

I'm running a 215/50 A032R-S on my 13x8 Diamonds. Setup works quite nicely. However, if there was a 225 available in the Yok, I would run that. I've heard the V710 is a wide tire, compared to others in that same size. It's probably just as wide as a 225 Hoosier, but that's just speculation on my part.

I ran V700s in that size on 13x8 wheels for a while. They worked well and had good even wear. Click my sig to see a pic w/them on.

They'll be just about perfect on a 13x8. I've run 205-60-13 Z211 (7.8" tw) on 13x8 last season without issues.

Everyone I've seen who is running the 13" V710's are either on 13x8's or 13x9's. I have them on a set of 13x8 Keizers and they fit great. On 13x9's they get stretched out a bit but I don't think it's detrimental to grip or response.

Here's a pic of them on my CSP CRX

It would be nice if Kumho made these just a bit wider in a 225 size, but I really doubt they will. The Hoosier 225/45-13 A3S05 has a wider contact patch and a shorter sidewall and really works well on a 13x9 wheel.
