i removed the H badge on my Si...now what?
ok i took off the H badge on the front of my Si and i have 2 problems, which will become apparent in the next couple pics.
1. so...do i need to repaint that area or what? that's lame.
2. i could not get the bumper on correctly. i dont have a question for this one. im just saying.
PS. sorry for the cat prints on my hood, i went on vacation for the weekend and i guess thats what i get for leaving my car outside.

I would say try washing it...it could just be dirt.
You might also try using some claybar to try and clean up that area...it should be factory painted as it might just be dirty.
If that doesn't work get a can or black and paint the inside piece then get some dupont honda fbp and touch up the area then hit it with a couple coats of clearcoat to give it a good shine.

Looks like the exposed grill got sunburn. Maybe thats how the plastic looks after 5+ years of being in the sun.
You can try wiping the area with some armor all and see if the black will darken to the tone its supposed to be.
For the painted surface of the grill, it looked like the H symbol was rubbing on the surface for some time. Is it rough and does it look like the paint is faded off?

im thinking it was repainted. the plastic on the H logo, i noticed, had paint on it (like on half of it...the exposed part). should that plastic even be painted? o_O
i washed the car, and it looks exactly the same. the first pic is before wash, second pic is after wash. from 10 feet away it doesnt look as bad as it does in the first pic (where it was horrid) but it's still noticeable.
im thinking of just grabbing a can of black spray paint and hitting it up, im scared that it wont match though. would regular gloss black do the job? or do i have to search for "flamenco black pearl" paint..?
i dunno this whole thing is kind of fishy to me...not like it matters, the car still has clean title and front clip is all straight etc, it's just weird.

ugh, i thought so. well that sucks major *****. my other friends that have Si's never mentioned this (they removed their badges) so when i took mine off i was like....what the crap?
it was also weird when i took off the front bumper, you know that plastic piece in front of the wheel well? it's kind of ripped...and damn it took a lot of work to get that front bumper on, and it still didnt sit right (notice right at the hood line its fucked). i had to go get a different bolt because the whole screw assembly is messed up on the right side. meh, whatever. not like ill ever take this thing to a show or anything. time to whip out the spray paint...

did you just purchased this car? if so, go back to the dealership and see if they'll work it out for you. as for the wheel well clips, you didn't need to remove those. the only plastic clips you needed to remove were the ones under the hood. fyi, those clips arent cheap. i lost 1 and it cost me $3 at the dealership. good luck though.
looks like a redone front end job in my very non-expert opinion

the only things i took off were the clips under the hood (right where the grille is) and one bolt on each side under the wheel well. i shoulda just stuck a tiny screw driver in that little space, i could've done it without taking off the bumper...

thats is exactly what you should do... when i had my 99 ex it was certified and what not and then after the first heavy rain i discovered what you could call "lake civic" in my trunk and back seats lol.. apparently it had been in an accident, im guessing it got hit on the side, and they never fixed it right after that

He can't take it back. The vehicle is sold "as is" unless the dealer says otherwise. If he had asked if it was in an accident and was told no he might have something. The dealer could always say they had no idea it had been in one. If he takes the dealer to court he'll be asked if he had the car checked out by his mechanic prior to purchase. If he did, the mechanic should have seen something. If not, he'll be told he should have had one look at it first.
It could of only been cosmetic damage to the bumper so not an acident either. Those things are like 35-45 from certifit I would just live with it or get some touch up paint on it or repaint it if you want to spend the money. Around $150 or less depends on the shop and the cost of paint. Simple paint job with no prep work other then scuffing the area shouldent cost much if anything in labor its the fixing of scratches and everything else that adds to the cost.
On a side note are you sure thats not dried up buffing compound or something similer that simply dident get cleaned of during the last detailing ect? That stuff can be a pain in the *** if left to sit in the sun to dry over an extended period of time.

yeah, the car was sold as is. also, Carfax reported no accidents...

heh, it actually has that in other places and this is not from it. you can obviously see where it was repainted over. its not TOO big of a deal, i might just sand it down a bit to get rid of that crease and then spray paint it.

Yea the bumper propably had some road dings in it aka from normal driving or someone scratched it parking somehow point is something minor happened and the body shop had to repaint it and dident take the badge off and just taped it off, from the look of it, it mayhave come from a white car because the certifit ones come flat black.
I would just get some touch up paint to cover it up and not worry about it. Otherwise see how much a local shop wants to paint it, it shouldent be too much since it dosent need any prep work. My shop would propably do it for $50 + materials.

Doesn't Carfax offer some sort of guarentee against finding that the vehicle was involved in an accident if they reported it hadn't?
Doesn't Carfax offer some sort of guarentee against finding that the vehicle was involved in an accident if they reported it hadn't?
That is only if you find out the car had a salvaged title or damaged title and such. If the title was never affected and it was a small accident, you have nothing against Carfax.
well just because carfax didnt report it doesnt mean it happened, im guessing it's like as has been said, it was from regular driving. it's really not that big of a deal. you cant tell unless you're within like 15 feet of the car anyway, add a can of black spraypaint and that turns into 5 feet, i think i am satisfied with owning a "5 foot car" (because my accord is about a 300 foot car)
is the front grill painted? if so, it shouldnt be. re-doing that is going to be a pain in the *** trying to get every little nook and cranny and make sure you mask off the grill real nice before painting the plastic around the grill
