Default Old school Tranny Swap 87 carb to 89 PGM-FI

I have a 89 accord se-i automatic fuel injected. I am buying a 87 accord lx carb. 5 sp.
My question is will the tranny swap bolt for bolt?
I am going to get the pedals, console, stick, master, slave, cables out of donor car. I will have to get a computer out of a PGM-FI accord 5-sp. Unless the auto ECU will work but I am pretty sure not.
The 87 runs great but has been pretty bad wrecked on pass. side.
If anyone has any knowledge that this fits please let me know.
The guy bought a reman from honda not too many miles ago so I know this is in great shape. Also the engine is too but I have no need for it. This guy brings his cars to the dealership for every little thing and has done so for a years. So that means if I can get this tranny to swap I will have a 87 lx carb engine with 5-sp ECU for sale very soon. Whole or parted and in VGC. I will have pictures by the end of the weekend to send through email if interested.

Thanks in advance.

I believe both of these engines are A20's

If so, it should bolt up no problem. You'll just have to go to all of the trouble with the conversion.

The actual tranny swap will be easy. It is the worry of clutch, flywheel condition and running cables and wires. Other wise this is the wifes car and she wants a 5 sp. So I say, make the wife happy first.

yup, the trans swap is pretty straight foreward. on 3geez.com there's a good walk-though on it, too.

Another question kindof related. Will a 87 carb head swap into a 89 Fuel Inj. block. Will the intake manifolds line up or are they different.
Vanilla Sky you spend a lot of time on these it seems. Is there anything special I have to make sure of or is that direct fit as well. My exhaust manifold stud holes are stripped in my head and it would be easier for me to swap than fix since I have a spare car laying around.

Thanks

yes, the heads are the same, with the exception of the distibutor mounting. either dizzy will work with either mounting, but the carbed head only has two mounting points, whereas the fuel injected car has 3. again, the distributors are physically swappable.

i've taken 4 of them apart so far. changed one trans, and i'm working on a fuel injection swap. chassis work is nothing on these cars.

if you wanna talk to me more directly, you can IM me on AIM or yahoo. i'm on a good bit of the time, so you can IM me and i should get back to you pretty quickly.

Yep I just checked this out before I read this and that is true. However the FI dizzy has an inline noise filter and the vacuum lines are a little different place. But the 2 bolts will hold the 3 bolt dizzy. Can't you just swap the tops of the cam seal so that you can retain the 3 bolt setup. Either way I am going to attempt (I mean complete successfully) this.

I will most likely IM wants I get everything squared away.

yes, that's the part i was talking that was different.

and both dizzies have the radio condensor. the EFI dizzy has an ignitor that the carbed dizzy lacks.
