Default Will an APEXi AVC-R turn on if you just wire power and ground?

I'm having trouble with my avcr. I'm testing it out and I cannot get it to do anything; I wired up power and ground; apply voltage (bench power supply) and the led's under the buttons turn on but the screen doesnt.

If i hit a button the screen pops up but as soon as i let off it goes away.

Now i'm wondering if the thing has to be hooked up to the boost sensor or any other sensors to turn on properly?

Or did i get a dud unit :-/

only power and ground is needed to turn it on. the solenoid or vacuum lines dont turn it on

Did you wire the grounds properly as per the instructions?

Ok; i figured out i didnt have both grounds grounded.

also the harness that came with this is from an safc or vafc; the colors on the harness and on the head unit dont match up.

I got it to turn on but now it's like the next but is held down; it boots up but almost imediatly acts like the next button is being held down :-/

I haven't torn into it too far but i'm betting something is fried I seriously doubt the switch just spontaneously started sticking...

Anyone know why t his thing would act like the button is being held down?
