So I got this nice wheel with a tire thats got nice tread but its got a hole in the side wall should I try to fix it or is that a no no?
I would hate to see this tire go to waste

 

Technically, no, but you can take the risk. the reason why tire shops wont repair a tire with an object sticking 1 inch from the side is because the patch wont stay on properly since its kind of round in that area.

Its risking a blowout on the road, but its up to you.

 

dump the tire... sidewall will flex a lot when cornering... worse time to have a catastrophic failure, don't you think?

NEW TIRE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had a freind who wanted to save a couple of bucks, fixed sidewall, went into turn, tire shreded, flipped and totaled car!
