Default what is the difference between te d15b2 block and the d15z1 block?

I'm going to put a z1 head on my b2 block in efforts to get better gas mileage. I figure it's the next best thing to swapping the entire z1 engine. I'm wondering, however, what the difference is between the z1 block and the b2 block?

Should I expect to see a noticable gas mileage increase with this modification?

Ihave no idea if the Z1 head will mount to the B2 block. But bore and stroke are identical between the two.

BTW, the head will help a little with mileage, but the main reason the VX (Z1) gets such good mileage is the ECU/O2 combination.
**edit** I see you're looking to do that too by your sig. Too bad you were not around 6 months ago, I literally threw my old Z1 away.

That's too bad. I've seen two guys on H/T selling an entire swap, but neither will ship. Now I'm just doing a minime b/c I found a head on ebay for $80 shipped. now I have to find the dizzy and ECU, and then get the four wire o2 when I switch to obd1.

I'm also trying to get the HF tranny from a 89 HF b/c it will bolt up to my b2 block. My understanding is that the HF tranny and the VX tranny were very similar. So basically I'm looking to swap everything except for the block. Any other info would be much appreciated.

the VX distributor and the EX distributor are the same.
I may be able to help you out, send me a PM and we can talk.
BTW, the P07(VX ECU) uses a 5-wire O2, see NGK L1H1/L2H2 not the normal 4-wire O2.
