Default Rear hatch lock mechanism

Does anybody know if it is possible to upgrade the 96 rear hatch lock mechanism to a 98+? If so, anybody know the parts needed?

The 98+ Integra hatch lock has a defect. Numerous people's hatch switches stop working. The only way to open the hatch is with the key. I dont reccomend switching.

I doubt they will fix it for free because its not a hazardous issue.

yeah i bought my 99 gsr used, and when i got it, it didn't even have a hatch release lever on the drivers side. just has a big lever for the gas door release taking up the whole space where the hatch release lever is supposed to be. i have to get out and use my key if i wanna pop the hatch

hm.... You could try calling the dealer and ask. I know for sure if it was a seat belt issue they would have to fix it for free by law. I have the same prob as you though, everytime I have to flick the hatch switch back and if i don't, the trunk won't lock.

mine is exactly the same. i don't have a latch to open it from inside, i have to get out and open it with a key. and that is very annoying.
