check engine light flashes when i hit a bump
ive got a b18b in my 97 coupe.
ill be driving normally, and when i hit a bump, the car boggs, the check engine light flashes, and my tach and speedo jump.
even when i coast (not on the gas) over a bump, the same **** happens
the check engine light doesnt stay on, it just flashes real quick, then shuts off.
it seems like my car drives normally, untill im on a bumpy road.
any one have an idea?

You have a lose connection on the ground terminal for the ecu and its located by the thermostat housing by the water temp sensor.
Let me know what happens ?

"see what the code in the ecu is for and then just find that sensor and follow the wires back to the ecu...done"
i would, but the check engine light doesnt stay on. it just flashes once, then its gone.

Good advise from CRXVTEC305 - Its easy to overlook. Follow the radiator hose up to the thermostat cover. One mounting bolt on the T-Stat cover is a ground point. It could be dirty and or loose.
CRXVTEC305 - THE BOLT WAS LOOSE
it was really loose actually. i took it out for a spin, everything felt normal.
BUT when i took it past 5k rpms through a couple of gears, the check engine light came on....
ill have to go see what that is.
thanks for the help though,

it almost sounds like something with the ignitor in the distributer. tach bouncing, ect, i bet one of the spade connectors on that is loose, put the dizzy car off, then rotor button and plastic shield thingy and u will see about 4 spade connectors attached to the ignitor, make sure those are all tight and the screws they attach to as well
