Just got a valve adjustment, now rich at idle
Before the valve adjustment, @48psi idle was fine (725-750rpm). Once I got my car back, idle was really rough @48psi (600-680rpm). Two sets of plugs were fouled out. I got the valves adjusted again by a different (Known for great valve adjustment) mechanic. He said the prior adjustment was off both on the intake(loose) and exhaust(tight) valves. Same ****. Here is the deal, with the cam gears set at zero the idle is fine, but as soon as I degree them idle gets rough and starts to run rich again. I would have to turn the fuel pressure down to 30psi just for it to idle good. When I drive around there is no problem, the plugs are fine when check right after, but if it idles for 3-5 Min. plugs get black and rough idle starts again. I tried advancing the intake cam, retard the exhaust cam, same thing. I tried reverse, retard intake cam, advance exhaust cam, same thing. Tonight I'll be changing the o2 sensor and distributor. I'm open to any suggestions.
