Default 96-98 Keyless Entry

Well i have a 96 Honda Civic, the Keyless stopped working about a year ago, for no reason....trying to find out why. I went through all the fuses and what not...they were all good. i have an Aftermarket Deck but, its located by the cup holder, so the stock one is still in the car. Any ideas?

Sorry not trying to sound mean but check all the wires for the keyless lock, check the battey of the remote, reprogram the remote, post in the Audio / Security / Video forum, and be more specfic.

Btw check these wires:
POWER LOCK GREEN/WHITE (TYPE B) @ BLUE PLUG IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL
POWER UNLOCK GREEN/ORANGE (TYPE B) @ BLUE PLUG IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL

If all fails just get a new keyless system with alarm!

just get some wiring diagrams and figure out where the problems could lie... ive had my remotes just stop working all together sometimes and all i had to do was reprogram the remotes... so you could try that... otherwise just check the wiring diagrams

If you are using the OEM keyless entry system and you install an aftermarket stereo you need a special harness. You have to keep the stock radio wired in the car for the keyless entry system to work.

You're probably better off just buying a security system with keyless entry anyhow.

who installed the radio??? its possible that they didnt use the correct harness. The oem radio needs power and ground, also there is a green harness that needs to stay pluged into the oem radio. does your dome light still work?? if it doesnt then that green harness is unpluged. but still check because you can jump 2 wires on the green harness to keep the dome light functional

Sorry i didnt read the whole post. I thought you had a problem with the keyless not working. like stated aboove your installer might of used the wrong harness. because the harness must have the keyless wires installed if not it wont work. but its a easy fix. Buy this:

rewire and enjoy!

I believe it's something like this.

unlock the doors. get in. put the key in the ignition. turn it to the on position and hit the lock or unlock ( doesnt matter ) within five seconds. Turn the key to off. Repeat until you hear the door lock mechanism.

if its not the battery on remote try resetting the radio. turn ignition switch to the on ( second position, car not started ), press and hold the button between the am/fm and cd/tape ( its the thin one. keep holding until the door locks actuate, while holding the button (on radio ) press the lock or unlock on remote, it should actuate the locks. release button. close doors and try. this reprograms the remote to your car. you can do up to 3 or 4 remotes. it all has to be done in order. kind-a easier than i have described it. good luck
