wtf - 4 bolts in rotor
do these 4 bolts in my rotor hold the actual disc on or does it just hold that piece that has the wheel studs in it? cause i just rounded one of the 4 like an ***. all i was trying to do is get my disc off...
also would anyone be able to tell me if the disc comes off without taking the axle not off? i know, why the **** would you have to take the axle nut off the remove the disc, but it really looks like it holds the disc on, that and these 4 bolts i've never seen before on a disc... im try to cut my axle nut off cause the son of a bitch aint comming off otherwise with the tools i have

you really hsould have read a walkthough or a manual before you dove into this.
you do have o take the axle nut off and you do need to take the bearing out to get the rotor off, and usually you need an impact gun for all of it.

**** this
i couldnt find a walk-through and my manual is missing random pages... why the hell would they make it so hard to change a rotor?

I asked a similar question before. You need an impact SCREWdriver, not an impact driver. Those air and electric impact drivers will strip that screw even more. You need a manual one that you hit on the end with a hammer. They slowly put lots of torque after the screw bit is fully in the screw.
and if this is the first time the rotors have been replaced, then prepare for a good ol time. those screws will be fused in there no joke, nevermind the axle nut.

Roger that... It looks like a big heavy screwdriver, with a spot on the end to beat on with a hammer... Each time you hit, it turns ever so slightly, but with tons of torque (well, maybe not tons), and you use that to break those screws loose, then use your regular hand screwdriver to finish...

or when you buy the compressor, which is always good to have, go ahead and buy a whizzer also, with the whizzer cut a notch to make it look like a big *** flat head screw, no grab your impact screwdriver with the flatheaded tool and try again, happens to me all the time when I take off the rotors of any honda, never on an accord though.

i am, but I just noticed that the guy on top of me said leave them out. I am tlaking about the 4 14s on the face of the hub.

Good luck.
on Honda 90-97 accords to get the rotor off the wheel bearing must be pressed out. You must remove the knuckle to get to this. Which means loosening all ball joints and taking the axle out of hub side. You will need a 36 MM socket and I recommend a 1/2" impact or a hell of a big breaker bar to get the axle nut off.
I did this to my 97 accord a few years ago. Also to turn (resurface) these rotors they have to be done on car.
Have fun lol

man.. what the hell were they thinking, i replaced my axle on my 90 civic, same year as my accord, it was a fricken 30 minute job.. no bolts in the rotors..

haha, actually i doubt it has anythign to do with stablity, i think the designers at honda were pissed at us or somethign when they designed the 90-97 accord

so basicly, its easier to remove the engine from the transmission to do the clutch? or can i pull the axle without removeing the disc?

you can definately full the axles w/o pulling the disc! take off the lower balljoint and the 36mm, give it a little tap to knock it out of the spindle and then pull it out, pry bar helps, make sure not to pull out any of the ujoints.

Actually to replace the axle on a 90 accord is a 10 minutes job... is much easier and fastewr than a civic , on either 1 u got to remove the 32mm civic 36mm acoord axle nut , ball jopint nut + separate ball joint from lower control arm now the easy part on the accord the axle will slide out of the fork easily,,, but on the civic u got to at least remove the fork lower bolt to slip the axle out ///// and to replace an axle u do not have to remove the 4 14mm bolts

Ok now i am really totally lost as to what u r trying to do,,,,,,what does the clutch disc have to do with removing an axle???,, i was assuming u r trying to replace the frt rotors ... if so let me know i will walk u through it step by step

Yeah I would rather turn rotors off the car any day but it is still not too hard. Just get a milk crate and have a seat. wait 10 minutes and carve some more.

well my passenger side axle is going anyways, and my rotors are warped, but yes, i am just trying to change my clutch.. its sounding like i need a compressor or this aint gona happen. sucks cause i cant afford to pay to have it done and im stuck riding my motorcycle, today i had to ride to work in the rain, scary on a sport bike
the car was a gamble, bought at an auction for cheap.
