Tell me about 87 CRX's
How are they with upgrades/swaps, lots available? howmuch gas milage do they get, any problems i should look out for if i got one? i might be getting one soon and am just trying to get all the info i can.
Look for an 85 Si for the full weight benefits. Stick with a Si/MPFI because the factory carb'd Civics/CRXs will not lend themselves to modifications so easily.
The D16a1 bolts in makes 118 hp...a nice improvement.
It also bolts in the older browntop ZC that makes 133hp...a full five hp more then the blacktop ZC.
There are mount kits for B-series swaps.

You don't need an SI to do a swap. Although it makes the job easier to swap on the SI, the lower trim CRXs will work as well. They just require MUCH more electrical and fuel system work. However, their extreme light weight makes the effort worthwhile.

I used to have an 87 Civic Si that a B20B/VTEC swapped into it and it was super dope. Just another option I guess...
Dont let anyone discourage you on getting a 1st gen CRX; there is a TON of upgrades available!

yay my 85 just got towed
now I am on the look out for a southern state 84-85 CRX nice recessed lights and lighter weight
with the 5lbs crash rated bumper reinforcments can't go wrong.
You can swap d16a1, zc (1st gen!!!), b-series, h-series has been done, and 88/newer have been swapped in just takes lots of work.
