CV Boot
Today, while i was trying to reach something under my car, I found that my drivers side outer CV boot was TORN. Now i'm pretty sure that this just happened recently because i've never noticed all that grease on my wheel.
. Will I just have to replace the CV boot and re-lube it? what do you guys all recommend? I think this happened after an auto-x practice session that I attended last week. I know it's not an easy job but i'll have some friends help me out. TIA

First thing I'd do is get under the car with a light and check how much junk has gotten into the boot itself and how much grease is still in it. I definately woulden't go driving on it too much or at all.
Can you hear any grinding when turning to the extreme right or left at low speeds with the windows open and all accessories off? If yes then you may already need a new CV-joint which = some money. If not and everything seems fine and the joint is relatively clean and the boot still seems to be packed with grease then it's time to get another boot and repair the axle.
This is a long PIA job. I just did 2 on my wifes aging beater sentra but, it is all similar or should be. "If I'm wrong I caould take a few pointers ." I did both with a good friend of mine who used to be a mechanic." It took a couple of hours and about 8 to 10 beers, Oh and was messy as sh*t, grease everywhere!
I have to straighten out all my thoughts about the procedure, but after doing them I remember how to pretty well.
I do however suggest you get the Helms manual for this job. It may have some nice pointers and ideas of different ways and tricks to do certain stuff to your car. And is neccessary to see if your hub and wheel assemblies need anything special to fix. Air tools are a good bet for this but, We did manage to do one wheel without any, Just a BIG freakin hammer!
Oh and BTW, doing it saved me about $3-400. the boots only cost $29. for both and the labor was all us.
Make sure to get OEM boots, that should come with the proper clamps and grease. DO NOT GET THE EASY HALF BOOTS! As they tend to wear and break fast. My wifes are good for another 90, K right now but, also is her tranny since we rebuilt that too,"thats another story..."
Good luck,
A.

No problem, if yo need any help or advice just IM me. It is pretty important to get a manual which will lay out everything in front of you so you can see a few steps ahead in the procedure. Plus the manual will come in handy for sure in the future.
Good luck, if you plan on doing it this weekend I'll be on and off Today and Tomorrow, unfortunately next week I have to go away for a few days but, I'm sure if you post this in the Tech forum, they'd give lots of helpful advice. I'm also sure you'll get more responses here and you can ask my buddy Rodney if you need anything. He's pretty atune with all the R's parts.
