ownt by condensation
weather in our neighborhood lately has been heavy condensation. it would start condensing around 11pm and carry on until morning. cars, house windows, maiboxes, plants, u name it its wet.
so that same week i parked my bike outside and when i fire it up after it ran fine the week before it starts to lump funny after half a minute.. moments later it dies. wtf. fire it up again only this time it will only stay idle if i roll the throttle.
fuel and oil are level and good so i can only suspect that water has accumulated and settled at the bottom of my tank after so many nights of condensation. if it isn't water i don't know what the hell it is. and now i have to work on it with a broken wrist *(&^#*&^@/end bitching

apocalypse - nothing wrong with riding in ak so long as u get it all done in 3-4 months a year =P
yes the bike is fuel injected. guess i'll be pulling the plugs out tomorrow because now i think its flooded. >

1) check an auto parts store for HEET. it removes water and condensation, and is like an anti-feeze for your gas. use it according to the directions, dont over do it, use the correct additive/fuel ratio.
2) if the tank has alot of water in it you need to drain the tank, disconnect and remove it, and make sure its completely dry and re-assemble. if water sits at the bottom, it will rust the tank out in time.
3) get the bike indoors, seriously! i grew up in anchorage/eagle river and have seen some gnarley winters there. last winter was pretty mild, but if its a bad one you will have some work to do to get her started come break-up.
in the mean time, if you dont have a cover, buy this one http://tricktape.com/index.asp...=3639 . i used it for 2 years in seattle rain and it kept my bike well protected. it will stop dew/condensation very well and keep your bike from gettin jacked and wrecked on spenard lol
a cable attatched to a disk lock is a great way to sucure the cover on the bike too
