I'm setting my car up for this tranny. What all are you interested in knowing about it?

To answer the above ?'s, no, this is not what that g-force shifter was made for. this one uses a completely different shifting mechanism (can also be air shifted, but only legal to do that in ProFWD).

Also, it goes a step beyond dog-cut gears that you can install in a stock tranny (actually, its a VERY big step.. lol).

As for exactly how much, if any improvement will it have compared to xtrac? .... dunno, there really isn't anyone running one. There is only one car right now that has one that is basically ready to go down the track, and thats an all-motor car... but it has been nowhere to be seen this year... I guess i'll know myself in another couple/few months or so... my car is getting closer every day It should have been sooner, but ish happens

You might want to ask Steve Bothwell about it. He's probably got more track experience with the GT50 than anyone.

I feel you on that one!!!!

My cage is currently about 80% completed. Hope to get the funny cage enclosure completed today/tomorrow. I then look and see that there are hundreds of other things to do once the cage is completed. I am not even looking at firewall forward things as of yet.

I now have a huge respect for chassis builders and their craft. It really is not as easy as bending up some bars and welding them in!!!

Well, if you see/hear anyone with the tranny definately chime in. I am sure I am not the only one interested in this. I know you can make the tranny be "manually" shifted so it will be legal in Hot Rod. just want to see more info.

Just wanted to point out that, he probably know that Steve Bothwell has only been the one operating GT50, alhtough it isnt necessarily on their current car.

The magazine doesnt hit newstands, only race/performance shop. Ill try to look for the magazine/article and see if they mention any of it.

i think 2 years ago bothwell was working with g-force to make that tranny i know they tested a couple times....but just testing. now it looks like hoyos is working with it. as far as the tranny it looks bad *** in person...the red case has much to be desired...but red is the color of the display tranny.

I think Hoyos is dealing with a different GForce tranny model... a north-south version... probably a nice hybrid of a current GForce rwd type setup.

The case i have isn't red, and it looks very much 'production'... i guess you could paint it however you want.. lol.

If anyone knows how i can contact Steve though, could you PM me? I'd be interested in talking to him about it. Actually , he'll prolly be in Moroso, eh? If anyone talks to him, pm me so i can either get his #, or give him mine so i can chat with him in Moroso about it

png is talking about the very first car gm had built by rooman. it never saw competition but made quite a few test passes.

they make an indirect drive which sits behind the engine, not bolted to it like yours. this is the tranny that was tested by gm before.

I'll talk to Steve at Moroso this weekend and let him know that he's in demand, and see what the best way for you all to get in touch with him. In my experience, he's the most helpful guy you'll ever deal with once he gets a few minutes of free time to talk.

I first met him when the team was testing at Irwindale. Just dumb luck, really - I was there for a drift event and saw the transporter over in the drag pits, so I wandered over. In addition to the car Ron Lummus drives (the Hot Rod Sunfire ) which has an Xtrac, they also had the Pro FWD car that they built for GM that Nelson drove in 2003. That car has a transverse engine layout and an air-shifted GT-50; as a matter of fact, when I asked Steve about it, he went and got a fresh CO2 bottle, pulled the covers off the air manifold, and demonstrated it for me.

From the conversation at the time, I'm pretty sure that this was the transmission that was in the car during the 2003 season. Steve talked like they never had time to really sort everything out properly, which makes sense considering that it would have been a very early production box or a prototype based on that time frame.
