Default Anyone know what this noise may be from?

After I shift then hold in the accelerater there is a very high pitched squeel..it does not eer change pitch and it just appears then sharply dissapears. I can make it come and go or stay as long as I want by holding in the accelerator pedal at a certain point. It almost sounds like a belt squeel but there would be a fade in and a fade out. It is on the right side (passenger) and my friend thinks it sounds like a high frequency pitch. Its odd and does not affect anything that I am aware of. The noise seems to come from where the batery and fuse box is. There is a cold air intake there also. I thought it may be a vacum hose or the air filter. I was jsut hoping its not the tranny. It is a CRX 89 si. Any other info you need to try to figure this out I will provide. I hope some one knows what the hell I'm talking about.

its normal, its just your throttle body whistling at certain angles

I think it would be the throttle body. I have never heard an intake whistle like this and its at an exact amount of acceleration. only when I push the gas pedal at the right amount. THanks for your input.

check out the ground wire in the engine bay. A friend of mine had a similar problem and it turned out that the ground wasnt fully grounded.

that was our original thought...it sounded like a high frequency noise..so i suggested a groung wire from the side some where....we didn't check them all....I guess I would just look for a ground thats not fully contacted with maybe some burn marks....thanks for rekindling our original thought its nice to have someone else think this too... I will check all the possible ideas suggested so far.

there should be ground wire in your engine bay that connects from the radiator support to the valve cover... check that-- that was the wire that did it for my friend

In European D16A9 Dohc engines have a little whistle if you listen very hardly. Between 3000 and 6000.

I think its nice whistling sound, never heard after installing a cone.
