did you under a huge puddle of water??? Do you have a cai??? Judging by your explanation, it seems hard for a car to hydro lock from just a storm. The intake has to be like actually underwater suckin in water into the intake for it to hydro lock!..

It is most likely rebuildable but for the price you can get a VTEC D16 to put in there. Did you drive through a big puddle? Normally engines don't hydro lock just from a little water. Sorry to hear that this happened.

I have gone through some hella puddles with my CAI too and the best way is get enough speed to roll through it in neutral. One time i had to go through a lake sized one, just built up some speed killed the motor and rolled through. I only reccomend doing this if there are no cars around u casue u will have no power brakes. but it worked for me Even my 626 had the CAI 3 1/2 inches off the ground. it just goes over the trans and drops down on the splash shield, but i had no splash shield after a while. still a honda part cause the CAI was from a 97-up prelude, just cut off a little.

I'm not really much help, but my bro and I have been through many big puddles and have shot lots of water out of our exhaust and to my amazement our cars still started up and were doing fine. In fact, my brother still drives his (accord).

How do you know the engine was locked, did you try to spin it over by hand ?

The d16a6 is a pretty strong engine. I'd try picking up a short block for cheap but if that doesn't work swap whatever you want into it.

my motor hysrolocked on me when it was rainging a bunch around here due to hurricanes and I got got caught in a lane that was flooded. I did the clutch in deal and it worked till I started to slow down, one blip of the gas and it hydrolocked. But, insurance paid for it since it was under acts of god. The motor was not stock either. It was a jdm d15b. They paid for it, just not shipping. But, shipping was only $150.

No the Head is Fine. its Actually Brand new. Has about 2000 miles on it. it was completely redone with new valves re lapped the head was milled down to min factory specs. so yea im trying to do a ZC conversion but I need to find just the engine because som 1 told me it will work with my tranny. and I need t find one that comes with the ecu and hareness. but yea ill probally sell the head. I dont know for how much but.

The stupidity of CAI users amazes me. How much does a bypass valve cost? less the new rods. When you hydro lock it stop ******* with it. Dont try to start it againt or anything. TAKE YOUR SPARK PLUGS OUT. Crank the engine over for a minute and get all the water out of your cylinders, It should shoot out of the holes. Then try to start it.
I really doubt you managed to fry a piston with a hydro lock. Think about frying some thing with rain water. The most common hydro lock issue is a bent rod. I dont see how you could bend a valve, for the piston to hit a vavle the valve has to be open, if the valve is open how the **** could you lock the engine?
