Default Paintstripper on anodized lip?

Hi, im sick of the red anodized lip on my gunmetal centred mags. I don't really want to waste time and effort sanding the anodized paint off the lip so im just wondering if aircraft grade paint stripper will strip off the anodized paint on the lip?

Also if i leave my tires on, will the paint stripper damage the tires?

if you get the stripper on the tires, it will start to eat up the tires. happened to me. as for taking off the anodized paint, i am not sure

Are the wheel lips truly anodized or painted to simulate the anodizing effect? If it is just paint that closely matches anodizing, the stripper should work the same as regular paint.

If they are really anodized, at most it will probably fade the red a little. Anodizing creates an oxide layer on the aluminum, any coloring is from a dye sealed into the oxide layer's pores. You usually have to use abrasion to completly get rid of the oxide layer prior to painting.

Thanks for that. I undertand it better now.

But I've heard that the paint stripper doesnt do jack to the tires from some people and people saying i will ruin the tires from others.

Please confirm.

Cheers

well from my experiences when stripping the paint off my car, some got on the tires and ate away a nice chunck. but if you just get some on the tire and wipe it off then you are ok. just dont let it sit on a tire

Cool thanks for the info. I'll probably have to sand them down anyways since they are anodized
