Watkins Glen, Sept 19/20 (Monday/Tuesday). NASA Northeast HPDE.

Be there, or be square, or be at work or whatever you do during weekdays. You too can experience the thrill of shattering your brake rotor going into turn one, leaving a "congratulations" donut on your fellow HPDE'er, run over the in-ground cameras, or otherwise have a good time!

(Don't leave donuts on your fellow HPDE'ers car doors. Makes warranty claims harder. Although, for the serious NASCAR fan, these are the hottest new accessory since the bullet hole stickers!)

Next year, I swear I will make it up there. I drove 2 new tracks this year, so I'm not too bent about it.

Because Watkins Glen has every weekend booked for the season years in advance. Clubs that already go there have the option to renew for the following year on the same date, so until somebody gives up (or sells) a weekend time slot, we are stuck going on a weekday.

Unfortunately I don't think my car will be fixed in time for this one.

 

Are there other non-NASA HPDE-type events on weekends there, or are they all races of some variety?

There are many weekend DEs there actually.

It looks like most of the weekend DEs are Porsche clubs, with one Ferrari club, and one PDA weekend there.

 

You think that region accepts non-Porsche drivers? I know there's at least one down this way that does not...

 

Reisentoter allows non-Porsches, but I don't know about the others. A lot of them will only allow Porsches to register up until a certain date, and then they open it to anybody so they don't lose money.
