car: em1 mileage:91,500 .. bad idea?
well im shopping around for a new car and this em1 i found on autotrader is in my price range they are asking 9,911.. (has a wing and "carbon fiber" euros
) i did kbb and its value is 11,300 .. im kinda worried about it though i might regret it .. i plan to carfax it tomorrow.. so any advice about this, should i save for another 2 months and get something newer and lesser miles.. all the si's in my price range have almost the same mileage or even more .. it would be my daily driver just until i can get a beater
notes: em1, 91,500 miles, 2000, black $9,911 .. should i get it?
if this is the wrong forum.. move, lock,... i did search used car tips to

buy mine!!
see sig -- it's obo
91k miles is still young for an EM1. As long as the major maintenance is finished (water pump/tensioners/timing belt). On 99-00 Civic Si's the 90k mile check up is the BIGGEST and obviously most expensive. I'd definitely talk him down $1k 1o $1.5k if he hasn't. It'll cost you about that much to have it done at a shop.
i really don't care what anyone says....BLAH BLAH...high mileage...blah, have they ever taken care of a well maintained high mileage car? it's the same as a car at 50k miles, just has a little more time on the road.
if it's taken care of (oil changes and necessary parts) then it'll last for quite a while. I've used mine for high way driving, auto-x's, and one track day. It has come begging for more.
also see if he changed the clutch.
a little food for thought:
I'm actually thinking of taking my civic off the market since no one thinks it's worth $7k. You never really know a car until you go and look at it. Check everything, if it turns out ok the car will last you a long time. They're quick/fun/quiet (non-modified) cars that can hold people and stuff.

i have driven a high mileage car. i still do. 110xxx on my gsr....
its just that, mileage is something that you cant take back. you've got the chance to find something that hasn't been used on average 20xxx a year...
shop round more
but our hondas at 100xxx are still very alive and well

hell i sold my 2000 ebp si for 6500 and it had 60000. i say wait its not that great of a car that you should pay a premium. just my opinion. if i would have been smarter i would have bought an hx instead of the si. insurance and theft are higher as well as the price. plus i can almost guarentee the car has been ragged to hell because it is an SI.

Damn please leave this thread. I love my si, but some of these guys are right. Price will be higher and so will insurance/theft. But you have to remember you also own the most elite honda civic in the united states. You are going to have to pay more, but for me if was worth it. If you like it go for it
My si has 103xxx miles and still runs great.

please i used to own one(bought it brand new) dont make it out to be this super elite honda civic. in reality it isnt much but overweight and underpowered. its still just a civic. they are not even rare like a type r. they are good cars dont get me wrong but they are not great cars by any means. just an opinion from an x owner. if it were me i would buy an ex and swap a gsr into it. buy some si rims and the lip bam you got a car that is quicker and looks the same but is cheaper on insurance.
