Dealership says throttle body sensor has been tampered with...
I'm in the process of returning my motor to bone stock. My car has been running bad lately, so I took it into Acura for a diagnosis. So after they did that, they told me that the TB sensor has been tampered with and that I need to get a brand new one which they quoted me $700 for! They said that once it has been tampered with, it's impossible to get the settings right or something. So is this true? If it is, what's my best choice in this situation? Look for a used ITR TB (but what if it's been tampered as well?) or an aftermarket TB perhaps? I'm trying to keep my car as close to stock as possible if going with an aftermarket TB. I don't really know much about this stuff, so if anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Its, not impossible, use DVOM and follow above procedure
if that does not work and you need to replace the TPS sensor use a CBR954RR motorcycle TPS sensor, they are identical to ours!

Is your TPS adjusted to the correct setting? How do you adjust it? Is it hard to install the TPS sensor? How much?
Also does anyone have a ITR fuel rail and pressure regulator??? Thank you!

To adjust the TPS, it has to be on the throttle body. You simply loosen the faseners and turn it back and forth until the voltage is correct. Use a multimeter to ensure correct voltage. Most US market throttle bodies have the TPS's attached with headless screws that need to be notched in order to remove/loosen them. I usually just replace them with standard phillips screws.

I also have one lying around. You have to loosen the (cant think of the word) bolts that hold it on, they dont have heads. Take a chisel and notch them and then take a screw driver and hammer and turn them lefty lucy. Once you break them loose you can do it by hand. Adjust as necessary and then use a couple of 10mm to put them back in.
Not hard at all, dealerships refuse to take them off, they make more money saying that the customer has to buy the whole TB.

Oh yea, when installing the new tps, there is a plastic prong on the sensor itself, and two metal prongs in the whole in the TB. The plastic prong needs to go between the two metal prongs in the TB.
<------who let a friend put his tps on while he did something else and wondered why his car was never hitting WOT.

They are quoting you a price for the whole throttle body with sensors. I went through this last summer with my R because the TPS Sensor went bad.
Use all the help that has been given above and you'll save yourself tons of money. You'll have to drill out the pop-rivets that hold the TPS Sensor inplace on the Throttle Body then just use some screws or nuts to secure the new one once the new TPS Sensor is in place and functioning
