Default Got my Allstate appraisal back.

They are giving me 25k. I think 7000 are from modifications and 18k for the car. This was a 98 TYpeR.

How did you document your mods? Receipts? Photographic proof? Just wondering - if my poor R got ganked, I'd probably never get money for my Spec B's (bought them privately).

Allstate is pretty good on mods stuff. They took care of me.

Well Ben...they gave you a pretty decent amount as insurance companies go. You might want to haggle with them for a little more money.

Whoa, it took you this long to get your settlement? How hard was it for you to arrive at the $25k price? Did you have to haggle with them? I still haven't heard anything back from State Farm. Mine was stolen on 2/1/02.

Cheeze, mostly likely it will take 2 months. 6 weeks minimum.

It took so long to get the money because it took me a month to collect all the reciepts. The negotiations took less than a few hours though. ALLSTATE ROCKS
I could have gotten more. They were originally going to give me 22k for the mods and car. We talked and i asked for a target price of 25k. She looked things over and since there were very minimal miles on the rebuilt motor she then rebuttled with a 24k offer. I asked how they priced the car and she gave me a few quotes.
They priced my car as a GSR!!!! I told her the difference of the type R and GSR and told her to do more research on Type R's. SHe called back and agreed. The Type R to GSR is like the civic si to a regular civic. She would give me 25k. She gave me what i asked for.
Its hard to bargin afterwards. She told me the car was worth 19500 instead of 16665. SO i could have gotten a 2 more thousand if i gave her a higher strike price. My mistake.

I didnt' report anything modifications to them. She was very understanding. Your premiums would increase if you report your modifications but that would induce less hassle than i would have gone through.

Did you have to insure your mods?

Well, what are you going to do now that you have gotten your insurance money? Are you going to get another R?

nope, put a down payment on a rental house. try to build equity. I don't think i want the hassels of another type R. I'm trying also to save some money for a c32 amg. the corolla will do me justice for now.

You hit a home run with the insurance company. Glad to hear it. You basically got M.S.R.P for your 4 year old car, when you really think about it. Thats outstanding!

HPIMP- i guess you can look at that, but then you can also consider the 20 grand that i put into the car just to maintain msrp value for my car.
